If you are that type of individual, we are currently seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our growing team. This position will report into the Electrical Engineering Group Manager. 

The Senior Controls Engineer will lead the optimization for all sensor and data flows within project teams. This role will serve as a technical subject matter expert expected to demonstrate mastery of control theory and methods to reduce theory to practice. This important and special role will provide an opportunity to dive deep into data and sensor flows of our remote and individual systems, optimizing system performance by correlating these data streams to provide superior response and accuracy for offered solutions. Responsibilities

  • Industry recognized ability to understand data flow and correlation in electromechanical systems containing sensors and motion controllers.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for projects that require deep understanding of control and automation.

  • Document process flows and theory for legacy and new architectures.

  • Liaise between the electrical, mechanical, and software teams to derive solutions necessary to achieve project requirements for delivered solutions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience preferred.

  • Experience with Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Control, Electrical Engineer, Computer Science, Engineering Mathematician, Applied Physics.

  • Electromechanical experience programming and developing closed-loop control systems, feedback control systems (PID tuning), and motion control (velocity, position, impedence, or torque-based control).

  • Solid understanding of data flow and timing from various sensor types to include IMU's, visible and long-wave imagers, laser ranging devices, magnetometers, and acoustic sensors into computing architectures, to understand and optimize for data timing, latency, and correlation.

  • Understanding of the interfaces for devices previously described, including speed, bandwidth, addressing, etc.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite – Including MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Visio.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to keep information confidential.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Practical application and demonstrated skills from industry with the exposure and experience listed in robotic control systems, data flow, analysis, simulation, prototyping, and optimization of real systems.

  • Ability to lead functional project teams, coaching, and mentorship is important.

  • Ability to transfer subject matter expertise.

  • Ability to take project goals and proactively and independently establish technical priorities.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for more than 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access equipment and office machinery.
  • Must have the ability to move, transport, position and/or remove up 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to position oneself to move in a manner required to perform the daily work associated with this role.
  • Must be able to operate standard office productivity machinery and equipment including a phone, computer, mouse and keyboard, photocopy machine, scanner and e-fax.
  • Daily work environment and noise level is that of a standard office.
  • Occasionally you may experience, or be in the vicinity of, outdoor weather conditions at our Ranch location, although basic shelter from the elements is provided it is not constant, based on the scope of tasks being performed.
  • Occasionally you may experience, or be in the vicinity of, a noise level consistent with a warehouse work environment.
