Technical Project Manager

The Technical Project Manager will help AimLock improve the coordination between technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role will be responsible for facilitating positive outcomes of critical projects by supporting the day-to-day progress of our software and hardware development by aligning engineering efforts with enterprise priorities.

The Technical Project Manager will help analyze and/or establish requirements, participate in engineering planning sessions, develop project plans, monitor and report on key project performance indicators for both internally funded and contracted activities.

The Technical Project Manager is also responsible for coordinating the identification, tracking, mitigation, and communication of project risks.

This role reports to the Director of Program Management and collaborates with engineering management to ensure project execution and project deliverables satisfy the key performance indicators and/or contractual requirements of a project.

Responsibilities

  • Total ownership, responsibility, and accountability for project performance against key performance indicators using industry best practices.
  • Broad spectrum financial accountability – budget creation, cost management, and profitability.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Director of Program Management, project managers, and engineering management to ensure appropriate prioritization and allocation of resources, tools and templates.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope, objectives, and customer requirements, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Translate contractual commitments and customer priorities into actionable engineering activities.
  • Support the maintenance of AimLock’s Integrated Master Schedule by developing and maintaining detailed project plans.
  • Continuous improvement of the Enterprise PMO’s tools, templates, policies and practices.
  • Required travel 10% of the time, or less Other responsibilities as directed and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study.
  • 8+ years of technical program/project management experience; preferably in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Experience defining projects, extrapolating derived requirements, writing functional specifications, and delivering project outcomes that satisfy business needs.
  • Bias for execution and planning in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; can create a path and define required resource map and strategy to execute projects.
  • Ability to dive deep into technical details without losing sight of business objectives.
  • Familiarity with embedded software development environments.
  • Outstanding ability to communicate and establish credibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the enterprise.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and positivity working within an ever-changing small business environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering Management, or equivalent.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Defense industry experience; especially in the R&D realm.
  • Start-up experience during growth phase.
  • Intermediate or expert proficiency with Microsoft Project and Jira.
  • Familiarity with Agile best practices.
