The Product Engineer is responsible for the configuration and customization of AimLock product options and system solutions. This role is responsible for creating the system level bill of materials from designed parts that drive decisions for supply chain, inventory management, production schedules, and pricing for customers. The Product Engineer will match system solutions to customers' requirements, maintain documentation systems for configuration control, evaluate alternate component and subsystem sources, develop quotation packages, verify customer purchase orders, and transfer awarded programs to production to ensure on-time delivery to the satisfaction of the customer orders. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a very good understanding of autonomous precision targeting systems
  • Identify & qualify customer needs and requirements
  • Configure parts and SolidWorks assemblies to create system level bill of materials
  • Support sourcing and supply chain activities as required in order to estimate delivery forecasts for configured solutions
  • Verify Purchase Orders (POs) agree with quotations
  • Develop professional quote packages w/ sales team for customer presentations
  • Supply technical data and business-related information to customers
  • Maintain existing and establish new relationships with end-user reps
  • Understand and remain sensitive to the competitive landscape, learn our competitors’ strength and weaknesses, and articulate for our value proposition
  • Support key marketing/sales activities including trade shows, conferences, and other Defense Industry events
  • Able to work in fast-paced sprint environment to meet intermittent deadlines, while managing long-term projects in the background

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering discipline, with preference towards electrical, mechanical, aerospace, industrial, or mechatronics and 6 or more years total professional experience 
  • Minimum of 3 years in a product design role working within a multi-disciplinary design team on products containing mechanical, electrical, and software systems 
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience supporting sales and/or business development functions 
  • Minimum 2 years working within a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and/or PDM (product data management) system, configuring parts and top-level assemblies for release to production teams, with preference towards Windchill PLM and SolidWorks PDM Professional. 
  • Demonstrable experience navigating sourcing and supply challenges as they relate to part alternatives for mechanical, electrical, and various sensor-type parts 
  • Military/Defense business acumen; defense industry experience preferred 

Physical Demands

  • Requires approximately 80% in office, 20% field (travel)
  • Work is performed in an office or military firing range environment
  • Travel and local commute between AimLock offices and remote test sites, and other possible non-AimLock locations is required
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for more than 75% of the time
  • Must be able to regularly lift and /or move 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Must be able to operate standard office productivity machinery and equipment including a phone, computer, mouse and keyboard, photocopy machine, scanner, and e-fax
  • Daily work environment and noise level is that of a standard office
  • Occasionally you may experience outdoor inclement weather conditions at range locations
  • Occasionally you may experience, or be in the vicinity of, a noise level consistent with a firearms training range environment
