The Production Manager oversees the production or manufacture of sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted costs in order to meet demand. Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, manufacturing process, and/or packaging operations.

Salary Range - $125K - $155K 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for production including daily production planning, delivery to plan, production cost, safety, quality targets, and production staffing
  • Maintain high product quality, safety, and yield while ensuring optimal cost, use of resources and adherence to best safety practices
  • Manage resources responsible for assembling, testing, and repairing products
  • Support upgrades, new products, and material introductions by supporting design teams, creating process plans, tracking budget costs and project schedules, and developing countermeasures for timely completion of project goals
  • Establish production metrics, tracks metrics and sets realistic production goals to maximize throughput
  • Ensures that department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately
  • Collaborates with R&D, product development/engineering, facilities management, or other functions to ensure that organizational goals regarding safety, efficiency, quality, and profitability are met
  • Drives and promotes quality workmanship and continuous improvement in all production processes
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Plans, manages and controls department performance by establishing overall direction and priorities
  • Advocates for and allocates appropriate resources, tools, equipment and support to meet production requirements
  • Acts as an interface between production and other product related functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering preferred; Master's degree in these disciplines preferred; Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience
  • 8+ years’ experience working and leading teams in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment (defense industry preferred)
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Management skills. Problem/situation analysis. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships. Analytical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics
  • In–depth knowledge of the production process and the tools and equipment used in the process
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production levels within tight time deadlines and in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in collaboration with engineering
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is preferred

Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, or machine shop environment
  • Travel and local commute between AimLock offices and remote test sites, and other possible non-AimLock locations may be required
  • We are a small team of experts. When necessary, we will approach deliverables with all hands on deck regardless of title or position
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for more than 75% of the time
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10% for government and industry meetings
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access equipment and office machinery
  • Must be able to regularly lift and /or move up to 5-pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to position oneself to move in a manner required to perform the daily work associated with this role
  • Must be able to operate standard office productivity machinery and equipment including a phone, computer, mouse and keyboard, photocopy machine, scanner and e-fax
  • Daily work environment and noise level is that of a standard office
  • Occasionally you may experience, or be in the vicinity of, outdoor weather conditions at a field test site, although basic shelter from the elements is provided it is not constant, based on the scope of tasks being performed
  • Occasionally you may experience, or be in the vicinity of, a noise level consistent with a warehouse work environment
